”Assessing the Bols genever investment opportunity
Financieele dagblad, December 10th, 2005
Spirits producer Bols will soon change ownership again
AMSTERDAM - The French beverage company Rémy Cointreau wants to get rid of Bols. It is unclear whether the Dutch daughter will be sold completely or in parts. […]
Imagine you work at EY-Parthenon and read this article this morning. You would probably expect an email of one of the partners to tell you’re on the job: assist one of the potential buyers of Bols in their assessment of this investment opportunity. A large brewer has shown interest in Bols: can you think of advantages a spirits producer would have after a takeover by this brewer.
This is exactly what you will do at our workshop. You will learn all about the work of a strategy consultant by solving this case: structure the problem, think about analyses you would like to perform and formulate a fact-based strategy. It will take business-sense and strong analytical skills to solve this problem, but hey: we know you can!”
“We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and enjoys finding answers to questions. You carry yourself with confidence, but not arrogance, and work on solutions in a team and with the client, using your outstanding people- and communication skills.
Your academic specialization is not of importance to us. On the contrary, the people working for us have not always studied business or economics, but, for instance, physics or law. This creates a versatility that we greatly appreciate in finding creative solutions. In any case, individuality is not a stumbling block for us, but highly welcomed. What matters to us is that you have personality and relentless energy.”
